Knight, Robert Irwin

Lieutenant Robert Irwin Knight
was born on 22nd March 1914 of Castle Park, Belfast. He was of Presbyterian faith. 
On 1st March 1935 Knight joined Northern Bank at Head Office.  He was on Relief Staff until 1939. 
Knight joined the 3rd Anti-Aircraft Brigade, Royal Artillery and on 25th August 1939 he was ‘Called up on Active Service” into the 21st Battery.  His rank and promotions are recorded as Lance sergeant, Sergeant and 2nd Lieutenant with Service Number 207997.  A further promotion to Lieutenant followed. 
Following the end of the war, Knight resigned from the bank.
In 1948 Knight was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Militia).
